Propylene glycol ethylene glycol copolymer (PLGA)
The new pharmaceutical excipient PLGA is a biodegradable material with good biocompatibility, non-toxic nature of the material and its degradation products, controllable degradation rate, suitable physical properties, and good formability. It can be applied to sustained and controlled release drug delivery systems and medical device products, such as long-acting injection microspheres, implants, sutures, bone screws, etc. By using biodegradable materials as carriers to encapsulate drugs, the goal of long-acting sustained-release drug release can be achieved through the gradual degradation of biodegradable materials in the body. In the treatment of cancer with hormones and other drugs with short half lives, biodegradable material carrier long-acting sustained-release technology has begun to be used. Its advantage is that it can avoid situations where the drug dosage exceeds the drug concentration that the human body can tolerate, or where the dosage is too small to reach the blood drug concentration and the efficacy cannot be achieved, by controlling the smooth release of the drug.
DiQi has the technology to prepare PLGA with different end groups, molecular weights, intrinsic viscosities, and monomer ratios (such as 50:50, 65:35, 75:25, 85:15, 95:05, 100:0, etc.), which can meet the development and industrialization needs of long-acting drug delivery formulations.
Polycaprolactone (PCL)
PCL is a low melting point semi crystalline polymer that has a longer degradation time compared to other polymers such as PLGA, up to several years. PCL has been approved by the US FDA for use in medical products due to its high diversity and good biocompatibility. It is widely used in tissue engineering scaffolds, regenerated bones, sutures, and wound dressing materials, and is one of the important candidate materials for subcutaneous implants. PCL is also used in the field of medical aesthetics, and this filler belongs to the category of collagen stimulants. By stimulating the production of collagen, PCL series products can correct signs of facial aging, such as volume reduction and contour relaxation, providing a fast and long-lasting natural anti-aging effect. PCL can also be used for scaffold tissue engineering in tissue repair, guiding bone regeneration membrane (GBR), etc.
